It's been a while since I posted; I had sooo many good ideas for a post and couldn't decide what to post, so I didn't post anything. Can you relate?

Between family life and studying for my Level 2 certification, I started looking for office space in February. By mid-April I found the perfect spot, and just took possession of the space July 1!

My garage and dining room have been filled with things I needed for my space since the beginning of May, so it was a big relief for me and Mazzie to finally get our home space back in order!

My new studio is located at 53 E. Park Ave in downtown Niles, Ohio, and I can't wait for you to visit me there! In addition to my aromatherapy services, I will have some items available for retail sale, and all the free education you can stand. And the coffee is always on!

So, what does it take to become a Certified Professional Aromatherapist?

First off, you do not have to be a certified ANYTHING to use essential oils. All you need is some therapeutic quality essential oils and a good reference book. Support from a community of like-minded friends is always a plus. Essential oils can support better sleep, better moods, smoother skin, and you can make your own cleaning products to start eliminating toxic chemicals from your home. You don’t have to be certified to make better choices for yourself and your family!

I decided to become certified in aromatherapy so that I could help others achieve their goals by incorporating essential oils and vibrational healing techniques.

Level 1, Certified Aromatherapist:

  • 3 day classroom instruction, exploring healing tradition using essential oils from ancient cultures, Biblical scriptures, and Medieval healers.

  • Basic chemistry and vibrational frequencies of 30 oils, their contraindications and safe use.

  • Anatomy and physiology of the Integumentary, Musculoskeletal, Nervous, and Endocrine system is explored along with oils known to support these systems.

  • Blending by note is introduced

  • Learn to interview, assess, and create a blend for specific purposes and integrate in a healing treatment through the use of heart-centered energetic healing techniques.

  • Legal, ethical, privacy, and professional issues are discussed as well as how to develop a case study.

24 hours Course work

76 hours Homework, and 5 case studies

Final exam, score of 80 or above

After passing Level 1 last summer, I decided to go for Level 2 certification.

Level 2, Certified Professional Aromatherapist (Level 1 Certification is a prerequisite)

  • 3 day professional level class, builds on the information presented in Level 1.

  • Organic chemistry of 34 additional oils is discussed along with vibrational frequencies of oils, toxicity and essential oil safety, and botany and taxonomy.

  • Anatomy and physiology along with essential oils known to support the following systems: Cardiovascular, Lymphatic and Immune, Psychoneuroimmunology, Reproductive, Urinary, Respiratory, and Digestive Systems.

  • The oils are presented using a holistic approach incorporating physical, emotional, and spiritual qualities.

  • Development of Intake and Assessment skills as part of a greater professional development are included along with consultation and client education.

  • Blending by classifications and chemistry is introduced along with a review of blending by note.

  • Students create a blend for specific purposes for a partner and are led in a series of heart-centered healing techniques utilizing both energetic healing and aromatherapy.

  • Legal, ethical, and professional issues are discussed, as well as ways to do a research paper, the case study process, and development plan for a business in aromatherapy.

24 hours class time

126 hour homework, and 5 case studies and research paper

Final exam, score of 80 or above

So it takes a total of 250 hours, 10 case studies, a research paper, and 2 final exams to become a Certified Professional Aromatherapist.

And now I am contemplating Level 3, Certified Clinical Aromatherapist…

So that's what I have been up to, how about you? Tell me what's new with you in the comments.

P.S. Need high-quality oils? I trust Young Living (and their Seed to Seal Quality Commitment) to provide high-quality essential oils, because oils from the bargain bin at the dollar store just don’t have the same therapeutic qualities, and most likely contain additives or residues that you definitely DO NOT want. Stop in and let me help you get what you need, or to shop on-line for Young Living oils and diffusers, please use my referral code #10028291 and link www.youngliving.com/us/en/referral/10028291,
